FileBrowser Professional App Reviews

This is good file management you guys/gals behind this. I use it especially when I need to remote manage files on my computers at home so connecting and sorting out folders shares is reminiscent to Windows Explorer. Some features additional features I would like implemented. 1. An always open with so when selecting curtain files it will automatically open up with applications. E.g. Certain video files that Filebrowser can not support will be run automatically by other video players. 2. A playlist for videos like the audio files. 3. Play video in background - as I tend to manage a lot of music videos, I like to listen to when I close the Smart Cover on my iPad 4. Is it possible for support on wireless USBs? I have a SAN Disk wireless USB and use the SAN app for accessing, managing and playing files off the USB, can FileBrowser do that too? Ive tried to display the USB with all the available options, but cant get it to display as a shared folder.

This should be standard install for all iPads. This is great because it allows me to use my desktop for heavy lifting with quick access from my iPad. Love that it allows you to connect to various cloud storage locations as well. I love using it for my massive collection of movies stored on my local home network drive. Allows me to. Easily keep several gigabytes worth of movies on my iPad and open them in different video players without using some stupid cloud service. Especially helpful with PDFs. On my iPad I can easily get the PDF into iBooks or Adobe Acrobat but I cant move it from one to the other. And if youre keeping many huge PDFs locally then youre doubling or triplicating or even quadrupling your storage burden by keeping them in different PDF reader/editors. This is where file browser is so awesome. I get to keep the file local but work with it in any PDF reader/editor I choose. So no more constant downloading of huge PDFs and other files.

This is almost the best APP to get access to my files, stored at my NAS at home.

Come on, the App ist high quality and very professional. For example Share Point and one Drive Business connection, but please spend a nice App icon. Thank you.

Great to access network shares but a few bugs with streaming audio or video to the built in viewer/ player

This app is a little more expensive than many other similar options but there are many little features and benefits I continue to notice.

Probably one of the best apps EVER.

We are quite impressed with FileBrowser for business. We are using it to connect to our wireless LAN and via VPN out in the field to allow our users to access certain Windows file shares on a server. It allows us to precisely control what the users can see and do by tweaking the settings and permissions and them locking them in with an admin password. For the features that we are currently using, it is working perfectly. Tech support is email based and is the best Ive ever seen, hands-down. If you have an issue or question they will stay with you until that issue is resolved.

Used to be able to VPN into my works network and access the server. Since the iOS 8 update, the app will scan and find the server but cant access it. Checked with IT and they said nothing has changed on their end.

If you have a home network or a SMB this is the App for your iPad. With this App you can access files on your network, browse the Internet from Safari download and save PDFs and files directly to your network share drives. The app allows you to copy & paste files, create folders etc. a The App supports MS Office files. The App also allows you to authenticate to a Windows server running AD Services so that file permissions are set correctly. Overall a great App!

FileBrowser has become the central switchyard for processing all our documents through iPad. It works consistently and without fail. We are very pleased with this App

Cant imagine iPhone without this app.

Coming from a desktop to iPad, FB helped bridge the loss of an exposed file system. And based on the included profile I also sprang for the Toshiba wifi adapter, which allows for USB flash and hard drives to be attached. FileBrowser is now my central hub to pass files from LAN, flash, and cloud to my iPad apps and back again. Couldnt be without it.

Today our files are everywhere... We have files on our computers, servers (FTP etc.) and local streaming devices. On iOS we dont have a central storage location (files are stored with each app). This FileBrowser app is a game changer. It is one stop simple convenient way to get at all of your files.

I am very happy with the features included in this app. The only suggestion I have for improvement is regarding the options for viewing versus annotating PDF files. The annotation feature is not included in the non-business version from what I understand and the default action is to view a PDF while the option to edit is on the pop up menu. You can change the default but the preference for this is not immediately apparent. A very minor issue for an otherwise very stable and reliable app. When I reached out to the developers, I got a very fast response which is pretty rare these days. Ive already recommended this app to several colleagues at work.

I found that this app does exactly what it says it will do. I use an iPad mini at work and need to connect with a PC based server. This app allowed me to easily find the server, connect to the server and then use all of my other apps with the files on the server.

This is my favorite app for carrying around all of my personal files that I don’t have room to leave sitting on iCloud Drive. Any time I’ve had a problem I couldn’t figure out how to circumvent, responses from customer service have been helpful and quick. They could work on making a few things a little more intuitive but that is only a very small issue when you’re first starting out.

This is my go-to app. Without it the ipads would barely be usable. Copy a file from my home server to dropbox or iCloud - no problem. View a file or play music with builtin player - no problem. I have some audible files and discovered it would not recognize them. Sent an email. Next got a reply that the feature was added and will be in the next update. Absolutely NO other ipad has support like that. I could not live without this thing

Can’t create any tasks. Create a task is missing. Trying to create a task to backup folders to flash drive. WebDAV server keeps disconnecting, even when the phone is unlocked.

Having tried many file browsers for iOS, primarily to reach home server, FBPro fit the bill with tons of options to configure.. this and OwlFiles were the closest and purchased FBPro. Contacting developer doesn’t to be available through the app itself. Note the interface can be cluttered and overwhelming at times…it is more like old school PC than iOS. Opportunities exist to bring the interface around. It would be great if FB would start to offer widgets for quick access outside the app. There is a huge opportunity if FBPro could solve (or simplify) the connection process when working across networks - ie partner with TailScale, Resilio Sync etc.

This works perfectly. I can finally leave behind my desktop OS and work 100% on my iPad. Worth every penny. Makes the default OneNote / Files apps look like childsplay,

I’m not sure what happened, but after updating to the most recent version, the auto-slide show feature no longer works even though that function is switched on in the settings. The app will now only play a video and then pause instead of automatically playing the next video, like it used to.

Pls fix!!!!!!

No repeat one song toggle on the music player

Been using the app and the tvOS app for years, never disappoints. When I have questions, support is always professional & helpful. Hall of fame app, it should be (Yoda voice)

This is the only app that can reliably see my network shares, even the big 10TB media drive still hooked up to an AirPort Extreme for a classic G4 iTunes jukebox. Now I can just use my iPad Pro as a tv, streaming to it with no need to reset everything every time like VLC/Infuse etc. I just wish I could get skim back & forth controls on the player, bc they rarely ever pop up by tapping for them. It’s easier to just shrink it down to pip and use the OS’s fwd/back controls, but kind of clumsy. But of all the things I’ve asked this app to do, this is my only minor complaint. Great app!

Had used FTP Manager Pro for years and when I tried to make it work while connected to VPN (Asus openVPN) it never worked. FileBrowser Pro and the free FileBrowserGO works with no problem and I had both installed while investigating the VPN issue. I Give FileBrowser Pro top score because it saved me when I most needed it and it was no hassle setting up port triggering port forwarding and so on. no extra stuff was needed on my asus routers after setting up OpenVPN, it just works 👍👍

This app has totally changed the game for me when it comes to managing files on my iPad. Here are a few things I really love about it: the way it actually moves files instead of copying them, the seamless connection to cloud services and my NAS, and the flexibility to switch between different views. There’s a lot more to this app, but one thing I want to highlight is the excellent support. I was a bit hesitant about the app at first, so there’s a bit of a learning curve due to all the features, but it’s easy to get the hang of it with the helpful guides they provide. I’m so glad I made the switch!

There seems to be a regression in how file management works. Ever since the interface was retooled the app has been slower. every time you open a directory that you ftp into now it first does a super slow refresh—even when you switch directories and switch right back. Also search is worse. You used to be able to search for a directory—tap into one of the results and tap back out to see the other results. Now tapping back out just reloads the original directory and you have to search again. I’d five star rate this app if those issues were fixed again

Complicated interface.Developer is not aware how to develop a clear and consistent User Interface. Text is small, everything is small, unusable. Application do have a so called Accessibility option for larger files text. Does not help. The entire interface is poorly designed. Developer used this app on Mac only. Sure it looks good on o big screen. Try it on a real iPhone! I have a good vision and use the default iPhone scale and text size. Waste of money. This is an amator , good developer with no notions of UI design. Stick with bigger companies.

I'm more of a Mac OS guy, but I couldn't resist the new M4 ipad. Long story short, this app makes the ipad productive and efficient...highly recommended, has a permanent place in my dock.

It doesn’t read .ai files. Can’t use the app

Still the best file manager for doing anything on the iPhone or iPad. I’ve used this program for years and it keeps improving.

Hello. I love this app and overall great except we need option to loop single mp3 and mp4 files in a large mass playlist. An example is where it will have a small 1 in the symbol to show it is looping. PLEASE FIX

Great app overall, but the player could use some improvements.

- Have up to date Synology NAS as of 2024/09, DS1522+ - SMB file shares work fine on all Win 10/11 devices - Can't get FB Pro to connect using any setting combinations while connected on the same local wifi - Get fed up and try connecting with iOS Files app using the same configuration / login data as FB Pro. Works instantly. Garbage app

I cant say this is the easiest product to learn but its not any harder to figure out than other complex productivity or utility apps. I've had to contact their Support a couple of time to ask how to do something and have had immediate responses, never robotic and always a person able to walk me through the steps. My husband and I both purchased the file browser app and installed it on our ipads and computers. We have a home network NAS we use to share our home management and joint files for things like heathcare, banking, tax returns, wills, vehicles, manuals, photos, etc. File browser gives us each the same access to all our NAS, Google and iCloud files. It keeps entire folders in sync on our local devices. Before I was aware of this product, we each struggled with the best way to ensure 100% file access between our individual accounts. This product resolved that!

I rarely write reviews and provide feedback – unless I am getting paid for it. However, I absolutely had to step in here and share my feedback about FileBrowser Pro. I do this because it is rare for a piece of software to be released that works well, is intuitive to use, and covers every need that the user could have. Everything about this file browsing app just works great. Most of the time, we are stuck with low quality/poorly written junk Apple software (such as their miserable Files native app in iOS, among many examples). I have thousands of JPEG files on my local network, including Synology, and yet the developers over at Apple could not (amongst any of them) find a way to reliably allow thumbnail previews to appear so that you can actually see the images in the directories you are browsing. You see kids, including easy and intuitive workflows for your software end users is kinda important. Nevertheless, this file browsing app does all of that and more. I absolutely cannot recommend it enough. It will be the best $15 you ever spent.

I’d to see the app to have two additional features: (1) a looped playback function that allows users to select and continuously repeat a specific portion of a video, and (2) the ability to create, save, and manage playlists for videos.

Please keep up your good work, I wholeheartedly love your app! The best File Explorer ever tried on iPadOS and iOS :)

Could this be any uglier? Really we are not in the early years of that other platform, fix your icons and interface , this is an abomination.

Having already created numerous folders using the basic File Browser app, the Pro version does not provide access to them. Instead it tells you to go to the iPad Files app to access them. Having neither time nor patience to figure out this bit of software design stupidity, I consider purchasing File Browser Pro to have been a waste of money and time. The basic version is more than sufficient for most users. Do not bother to buy this.

Excellent app and even has a great music player. Would be even better if it had a cross fade feature too!

They don’t collect data. That’s number 1. Plus it just works tremendously. I use it to manage files on a network and FTP. I also keep files locally for all in one location use. Definitely worth it!!

Ok app. Lots of functionality but not very well thought out.

Just wanted to batch rename photos for a project. Thought I spend the 15$. I have wasted to much time trying to find the rename function. Still haven’t located it. I have read and watched everything I can find on this app. Nowhere do I get a screen like they show. Wasted 15$.

That Mac version is more or less mobile version made to work but without Mac GUI you’d expect. Otherwise excellent. Because I work on Android and upload to iCloud as well it would be nice to see a version for Android but that may be asking too much. Android has file managers but there’s room for more like FM Pro.

This is the only app you’ll ever need. Pay the $15, skip over Apples shoddy, half-baked mess and the subscription apps.

I've been on a long hunt for the best file browser/manager app I could find for iOS, and this one has finally brought my search to an end. DAV and remote integration is smooth and flawless. And their support is pretty friendly and responsive too. Thanks for a great app.

Developer is incredible! Very frequent updates and new features. Thankfully not a subscription model. Couldn’t be happier! Don’t think twice, buy and you will not regret it.

I had really been impressed with and then it just stopped responding to all taps and is now 100% useless. It's really too bad because it had worked well then it JUST STOPPED WORKING. Reloading the app just made things worse. Now I can't use the app at all as if someone flicked a usability toggle. I feel ripped off and this app is like many others in terms of POOR QUALITY. That the app now pitches pCloud, a garbage service, tells me everything I need to know about the purveyor.

I love File Browser Pro. Please make it where you can drag your finger across the screen to select.

Does everything you could possibly want, including quickly and easily connecting to Windows and Linux shares and viewing and playing every popular file type. It will even let you automate moving files between folders on your Windows or Linux share using a timer. It also works perfectly with IOS shortcuts. Truly, what's not to like? And you can buy a lifetime license instead of %}^*} in-app purchases. It's so much better than FE File Explorer! I wish I'd bought this years ago!

Literally the only reason I bought this was so I can more efficiently go through and organize and delete Raw pictures from my photography stored in the nef file type. The website state that this format was supported. It is NOT. will be requesting a refund from apple directly as I doubt a developer who so blatantly lied will honor a refund request.

Would be perfect if you could queue folders for music. Having to manually queue individual songs is tedious. Until then it’s 2 stars.

Could never make it work. Spent days trying and let a long time before I tried wasting my time again because I saw the shiny reviews and thought I was doing something wrong. Turns out that 'Socket error 54" is just one of those life mysteries. Tried to get a refund but I guess that there's a time limit.

Pro tip! Use this app to sync my pictures from my phone to my local NAS server. Never pay apple cloud anymore.

Continually get “ needs login in the app” even though I’m using the established SMB connection which was created AND LOGGED IN previously within the app. Sync is basically useless until this is fixed.

Filebrowser TV is a fantastic app. So is their regular FileBrowser Pro but I really wanted to comment on how great the Apple TV app is. You can access your computer seamlessly without any glitches and it allows many more file formats to be opened from there. Other Apple TV file apps only support photos and audio or video files, but FileBrowser TV supports many other types of files. It’s so cool to be able to have PDFs on the TV. I wanted to make a feature request in case the developers see this review: It would be fantastic to have access to cloud storage services in the Apple TV FileBrowser app the way the FileBrowser Pro app links to Dropbox, Google, PCloud, etc. Especially because FileBrowser TV offers more file formats to open, it would be nice to be able to open them from Dropbox, etc., too.

I’ve already wasted too much time and money trying to get this ridiculous product to make a simple connection to my MacBook Pro on a local network.

Love this file manager… But PLEASE add support to show video and audio thumbnails from MP4/M4V/MP3 etc album/video poster. I rip movies and each file has a poster art. This does not show up here.
